What Are Pigmented Lesions?

Pigmented lesions are areas where melanin has clustered in the skin — the sun spots, age spots, and brown patches that build up over years of sun exposure. Most are completely benign, but they can add years to the skin’s appearance. The good news: pigment responds beautifully to light, and we have two ways to reach it.

For scattered spots, freckling, and overall uneven tone, the IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) handpiece on our Spectrum platform is the go-to. Filtered broad-spectrum light passes harmlessly through the surface and is absorbed by excess pigment below. Treated spots darken briefly, rise to the surface, and flake away over the following week — revealing clearer, brighter, more even skin.

There’s no downtime — most patients book it on a lunch break — and a short series of sessions delivers the best results, softening redness and sun-related texture change along the way.
