Reflections Laser Technology
Every energy device in our treatment rooms is a different tool for a different job — some polish, some erase, some rebuild from underneath. Here’s a plain-English guide to all of it: the lasers and light, the radiofrequency, and what each one can actually do for you.

Two Families of Energy
Our devices work in one of two ways. Light energy (lasers and IPL) is absorbed by a specific target — pigment, blood vessels, ink, or the water in your skin — and changes what it touches. Radiofrequency (RF) energy passes through the surface and heats the deeper layers, triggering your skin to rebuild its own collagen and elastin.
In each family, we’ve arranged the technology from gentlest to most transformative. More intensity isn’t “better” — it’s just a different tool. The right one depends on your skin, your goals, and your calendar.
Part One
The Laser Ladder — Working with Light
IPL — Intense Pulsed Light
Broad-spectrum light • Non-ablative • Zero downtime
IPL isn’t technically a laser — it’s a burst of filtered, broad-spectrum light. Different filters let us aim that light at different targets: brown sun spots and freckling, the diffuse redness of rosacea, broken capillaries, and the bacteria behind acne. The pigment absorbs the light, heats, and the body clears it — the surrounding skin is left alone.
Best for: sun damage, age spots, redness and flushing, uneven tone — the classic “photofacial.” Most people return to work the same day; spots darken briefly, then flake away over a week or so.
Laser Hair Removal
Follicle-targeted • Non-ablative • In-and-out visits
A brief but worthy mention: the same physics that fades a sun spot can retire your razor. Laser hair removal sends light down the hair shaft to the follicle, disabling it over a series of quick sessions. Built-in contact cooling keeps treatments comfortable, and sessions for small areas take only minutes.
Long Pulse YAG
1064nm Nd:YAG • Non-ablative • Minimal downtime
Now we step from light to true laser. The Long Pulse YAG’s 1064nm wavelength travels deeper into the skin than IPL can, and its longer pulse delivers sustained, targeted heat. That makes it the specialist for vascular work: spider veins, broken vessels, and cherry angiomas absorb the energy, collapse, and are reabsorbed by the body.
Best for: spider veins and visible vessels on the face and legs, cherry angiomas, and deeper vascular lesions that surface-level light can’t reach. Because 1064nm largely bypasses surface melanin, it’s also one of the safest wavelengths across a wide range of skin tones.
Tattoo Removal — The TORO Laser
Picosecond + nanosecond pulses • Photoacoustic • Ink-selective
Here the intensity jumps — but in speed, not heat. Our TORO tattoo removal laser compresses its energy into pulses measured in nanoseconds and even picoseconds (trillionths of a second). At that speed the effect stops being thermal and becomes photoacoustic: a shockwave that shatters ink particles into fragments small enough for your immune system to carry away, while the surrounding skin stays intact.
Multiple wavelengths let us match the laser to the pigment — 1064nm for blacks and dark blues, 532nm for reds and oranges — so multicolor tattoos can be cleared, not just faded. Picosecond technology achieves more clearance per session than older nanosecond-only lasers, which typically means fewer total visits.
Best for: tattoo removal and lightening (including prep for a cover-up), and stubborn pigment problems that resist gentler approaches.
Erbium YAG
2940nm • Ablative • A few days of social downtime
This is the first rung of the ladder that actually resurfaces. The Erbium YAG’s 2940nm wavelength is absorbed by the water in your skin so completely that it precisely vaporizes micro-thin surface layers — lifting away surface pigmentation, softening fine lines, and triggering fresh collagen as the skin rebuilds.
Because Erbium penetrates less deeply than a CO2 laser, it trades some intensity for a gentler recovery — think several days of redness and flaking rather than a week or more. It’s the sweet spot for real textural change on the face, neck, chest, and hands without committing to maximum downtime.
Best for: mild-to-moderate fine lines, surface pigmentation, rough texture, and first-time resurfacing patients.
The Core 2 Laser
Fractional CO2 • Ablative • Our most transformative laser
Everything above leads here. The Core 2 is our fractional CO2 laser — the deepest-reaching, most powerful resurfacing technology in the building. It treats the skin in thousands of microscopic columns, removing damaged tissue and heating the deeper dermis so your skin rebuilds itself: tighter, smoother, and measurably younger in tone and texture.
Deep wrinkles, acne scarring, years of sun damage, lax texture — this is the treatment we reach for when the goal isn’t maintenance, it’s transformation. Intensity is fully adjustable, from a light “weekend peel” setting to a full deep resurfacing, and yes — the downtime is real. So are the results.

Beyond Light — Radiofrequency Energy
Lasers change the story at and near the surface. Radiofrequency works from underneath — heating the deeper layers where collagen lives, so skin tightens and rebuilds without the surface ever breaking. Same idea as before: gentlest first, most transformative last.
Sublime & Sublative RF
Surface RF • Little to no downtime • Often paired together
The gentlest way into radiofrequency. Sublime delivers RF warmth into the dermis to wake up collagen production — firming jowls, softening fine lines, and tightening smaller areas of loose skin with no needles and no recovery. Sublative steps it up slightly, delivering fractional RF through the surface to smooth texture, shrink large pores, and soften scars and wrinkles.
Best for: early laxity, fine lines, texture and pore concerns, and anyone who wants firmer skin without needles or downtime. The two are frequently combined in one visit.
Morpheus8 — RF Microneedling
Microneedling + fractional RF • A day or two of redness • The facelift alternative
This is where RF gets serious. Morpheus8 pairs microneedling with fractionated radiofrequency: ultra-fine needles carry the energy past the surface and release it deep in the dermis and beneath, remodeling the skin’s scaffolding from the inside. The result over the following weeks is skin that is genuinely tighter and thicker — the closest thing to a facelift effect without surgery.
Best for: sagging along the jawline and neck, deeper laxity, acne scarring, and skin that has lost its snap. The same RF-microneedle technology also powers our hyperhidrosis treatment — quieting overactive underarm sweat glands by up to 90% after a short series.
Ignite RF
Morpheus8 + QuantumRF • Face and body • Surgical-level results, no surgery
Just as the lasers build to the Core 2, our radiofrequency lineup builds to Ignite RF — a platform that combines Morpheus8 with QuantumRF to go beyond the face entirely. It tightens skin, remodels tissue, and can ablate stubborn fat, which is why it works on jawlines and waistlines alike: refining facial contours, lifting the body, and sharpening definition through the midsection.
If your goal sounds less like “refresh my skin” and more like “change the shape of what I see in the mirror” — without an operating room — this is the conversation to have.

Radiofrequency + muscle stimulation • Non-surgical • Function and confidence
Not every energy treatment is about the mirror — some are about how you live. EmpowerRF applies the same collagen-rebuilding energy to women’s pelvic health: strengthening weakened pelvic floor muscles and treating stress, urge, and mixed urinary incontinence after childbirth, menopause, or simply time. Votiva uses gentle radiofrequency to restore vaginal and labial tissue — addressing dryness, laxity, and discomfort painlessly, with no surgery and no recovery time.
Best for: bladder leaks with laughing, coughing, or exercise; pelvic floor weakness; post-childbirth and menopausal changes; and intimate comfort and confidence.
